Ray Smith: Man of Essex

£16.00

by John Broom

Ray Smith was a fine all-rounder, whose first-class career lasted from 1934 to 1956 and included the double of over 10,000 runs and 1,000 wickets.

Between 1940 and 1945, he was a leading player in English wartime cricket, captaining the British Empire XI which raised funds for war charities.

Drawing on interviews with those who played with him and on previously unused sources, this book tells the story of a true ‘Man of Essex’.

You can hear an interview with John Broom about the book on our YouTube channel.
