100 Not Out: The South Wales Hunts CC 1926-2026

£17.00

by Andrew Hignell and William Taylor

2026 is the centenary of Wales’ most famous and prestigious wandering cricket club.

Over the years, the South Wales Hunts have played the likes of I Zingari and the Gloucestershire Gipsies, plus a host of military teams.

This book starts by examining the very close links between hunting and cricket during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and also profiles the leading figures in the creation in 1926 of the nomadic club, especially Johnnie Clay and Tip Williams. Attention is also paid to the many characters who have regularly represented the Hunts, as well as the well-known families who have supported the team, both on and off the field, and the many grounds where the Hunts have played their matches.

There are two photographic sections showing some of the key personalities in the club’s history, including some from the earliest days. Thanks to Will Taylor, the club’s current Honorary Secretary, the book also contains a series of appendices with comprehensive statistics about the club’s very proud history, as well as detailed lists of the stars with bat and ball for the Hunts, both past and present.
