First-Class Matches: Loose Ends

In 2015, a survey of ACS members highlighted the fact that a number of first-class scorecards were not readily available in printed form. The ACS inaugurated the ‘Hard to Get’ series to plug these gaps in the record, and previous editions in the series have put into book form well over two thousand scorecards from all over the world, the great majority of which had previously appeared in print, if at all, only in ephemeral sources such as newspapers and magazines.

This, the thirteenth and final volume in the series, has a dual function. First, it ties up loose ends by including a further 210 scorecards that fell outside the scope of the previous books. Second, it serves as a guide to the various publications in which first-class scores may be found: not only ACS publications such as the ‘Green’ series, but national annuals, compilations, and of course Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack. It is hoped that it will be of value to anyone seeking to build or extend a collection of first-class scores, whether for a specific country or worldwide.
